I love when my work day starts early. Is that gross to you? Disgusting? Unfathomable? Well, shut up because I like it.
This semester on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I have an 8AM class. Yes, it hurts to get up. Yes, I have to plan ahead and try to fall asleep early.
But it’s so wonderful to get out of work and still have so much of the day.
P.S. I love that Nadia actually captured what I’m like in the morning with one of my favorite things to say to people in the morning 🙂

Busy busy busy. Sometimes we find ourselves so busy that we don’t get the chance to sit down and enjoy the simple things. And that is ME right now. Over the next two weeks, I will teach twenty-four college classes, work at six hockey games, write at least nine blog posts and still attempt to find time to write. Plus about five appointments that surround planning our wedding.
When will I find time to relax, enjoy my house, have some quality time with the fiancee?
Trust me, I will. I’m like that.
At the hockey game the other day, I was working in a different building, the baseball stadium for the Philadelphia Phillies, Citizens Bank Park. Since I’d only worked there one other time, please keep in mind that I don’t know my way around that well.
As I just missed the elevator, I noticed a set of stairs next to it and figured I could catch up with my coworkers by taking the stairs down one flight. I enter the stairwell and as the door shuts behind me I hear a buzz and a click. Doors don’t usually make noises like this, so I turned and tried the door. It was locked! I panicked a little, ran down a flight to try the next door…locked! One more flight and still locked! I thought I was going to end up sitting in this stairwell and everyone would wonder what happened to me! I would be missing the whole game, trapped in a stairwell! And let’s face it, I would be teased for months.
One more flight down and the door opened. Phew! I actually made it to the elevator as it opened and my coworkers walked out.
*Please excuse three “Den” posts in a row. Nadia is defending her thesis today so I agreed to post for a few days so she could focus on such a huge, important project. And also excuse my crude DO hand drawing/watercolor…I wanted to give her as much time as I could.
Today, my brother and I started our workday quite normally. We were tired and hoping the expensive Starbucks would start kicking in soon.
It was slightly cloudy outside and about midday when a man in a Sparkletts uniform walked into our office (we have a water delivery service through them). He said that they had just teamed up with a coffee company and had an offer for us. Our boss is on vacation, so this sort of decision is left to me!
They had a new service where they would rent a Single-Serve Brewer to us for $5 a month and deliver the coffee for an additional $12. My brother and I snapped out of our working daze and the three of us started discussing what an awesome thing this would be for our office. It’s not limited to just coffee, but comes with teas and hot chocolate as well!
We pictured our impressed clients forgetting about all their troubles while sipping our fine coffee.
My brother pointed out the perfect place for the Brewer while I signed.
Mr. Boss will most likely not share our enthusiasm, but until he gets back it’s coffee glee for the rest of us!
