Traveling alone

Dear Optimists,

Last Summer I traveled to London, England by myself. I needed time to myself and to figure myself out.

Okay, that’s bull. Everybody went on this marvelous festival in Denmark, but it’s mad expensive so I went to London instead for the same amount of money.

I was planning to walk around the streets of London, snapping pictures of all the turisty things:

I expected to meet up with Prince William, tell him a thing or two about Kate. And of course say yes to be his Princess.

Obviously, neither happened. Instead I spent a serious amount of time in bookstores and meeting lots of new people!

When you’re out and about all by yourself, you open up to others in a whole other way than what you’d normally do. Plus the fact that you’ll definitely learn a thing or two about yourself. Have you ever tried traveling by yourself?

This wasn’t my last time traveling all by myself! I

Love,
Nadia.

  1. I LOVE travelling by myself! You get to make all the decisions about where to go to and where to spend more time etc. And what to eat and when to eat. And if you just feel like a quiet or lazy day, you don’t have to defend your choices to anyone.

    1. Exactly! I love doing exactly what I feel like (who doesn’t?!) without having to think of somebody else wanting differently.

  2. I traveled on my own like 16 times!! But every time, I went to UAE visiting my parents who used to work there, so technically, I was on my own only at the airport! 🙂

    1. Well, if that counts as traveling alone, I’ve been traveling alone too many times to count (Mum used to live in Iceland + boyfriend on Faroe Islands) – phew!

  3. I’m going trying to get into a university in a state I’ve never been to, and live there by myself…gulp… this post was very encouraging! 😀

  4. Awesome!!! I recently booked a return flight to Hanoi/Vientianne and it will be my first time travelling alone. Although I’m not sure if I could get a 2-week leave yet, I’m sure it will be a great trip. =)

  5. I’ve never travelled alone. Sounds scary… 😐

Is it just me, or is this post unfinished?

    Love,
    Nadia.”

…You what? Dunno whether something was cut off, or whether my computer screwed up, which is a distinct possibility for my tempermental machine.

  6. I am very courageous…but when it comes to traveling alone – I ADMIT IT – I’m a little scared. I think the opportunity to go alone will present itself when I’m done this Masters program at the end of August. I plan to spend all the money I’ve made being a teaching assistant and if no one wants to come (or is available) it is happening….eek. A wondrously scary thought.
